HAHA! LOL! An artist friend of my stepdad's mourns that his studio floor is his "best work of art" ! :D As for maples, that does indeed look like a Big Leaf Maple. Checl the photo again, I added some info - GGP is *completely* man-made from the soil up!
Celtic_Husband Saw the metal work, it is great. Yes. They are called "Black Hills Spruce", and are almost impossible to transplant and grow anywhere else, but people keep trying! Sometimes they succeed. The natives named them long ago - "Paha sapa". There is a deer in this picture!
Thanks for the offer - I will sketch them. I understand artistry, however, and I will not be able to exactly duplicate them in a drawing, much less expect you to exactly duplicate the drawing, if you can do them at all! :) Fascinating about chestnuts - I was amazed to learn how long it took (maybe a century??) for the infamous Dutch Elm Disease to make from Europe to California (we lost the elm tree in our front yard after I left home).
