an ivory billed woodpecker with a wing span of just over 30" and was thought to be extinct for the past 40 years. It has been sighted in Ark.

I heard that on the news this morning, Hope they are right. Hope they come to W.V. it would be great to really see them.

Thanks for posting this, I could not get a good photo . . . they ARE right - they even shot a video. First sighted by an amateur birder in 2002, they (a PAIR) have been seen by four people total. They are looking for another pair. Their lifespan is only 15 years . . . The land (200,000 acres) was previously logged and grew back and is going to be protected YAYYYY! (Reuters/BBC)
