PS the birds are fighting a brisk wind. These are all female house finches, one poor male finally managed to find a perch!

Lovely symmetrical shot! We felt bad leaving our hummies and other birds for a week in Vermont altho I'm sure they feed other places.

Yep, they have found the feast. That twirly thing on my porch is a dried wild honeysuckle vine. It was wrapped around a tree and we saved this part for the birds to perch on. I hang my suet feeder on the same hook in the winter.

A few years ago I had a bird feeder, in fact a few. I hung them from trees and poles. The birds came and had a good time, but the squirrels soon took over. They would empty the feeders in no time. So I took some grease and put it on the pole about two feet up. Filled the feeder and watched those squirrels start up the pole only to hit that grease and slide down. It was very funny, but it came off after a few slides and they got to the seed. I just gave up.
