A PURE HEART
The heart is wicked above all things the word says, it also says that out of our mouths flows the abundance of our heart. When we act or speak we are driven by passion, the heat of the moment or by our present emotions. I remember a story where a couple of children walking in the woods left a trail of bread crumbs so they could find their way home but when they attempted to return they found that the birds had eaten the crumbs and that they were now lost. When we go through life leaving words behind they are also taken and impossible to take back, we can loose our way in relationships or bring a hurt to some one that we didn’t mean to hurt. When we give our lives to Christ we give our hearts to Him and we then become Christ like or as we now say Christian, this doesn’t mean every thing we say or do is Christ like, it means we have been given the opportunity to say and do the right thing when our hearts are pure and when the spirit of the Lord is upon us. Picture your selves as Johnny apple seed spreading seeds as you go about your travels, on your right side you have a sack of seeds given you by the Lord and from it you spread encouragement, kindness, love and hope. However we all have a sack we carry on our left side given us by the ruler of this world, Satan, in it is pride, when we reach into it we scatter hatred, separation, judgment and hurt. The word says to “choose this day whom we will serve”. even as Christians we have to choose daily whom we are going to serve, what sack we reach into and what seeds we are going to sow. Which ever you choose they will grow, they will change lives forever, they will bring about unity or division, strength or weakness, joy or bitterness and some times life or death. Just a couple more verses, “within the tongue lies the power of life and death”. And “the tongue is sharper than any two edged sword”.
We need to remember that the spirit of God can not inhabit the spirit of anger, so when anger overcome us we are pretty much on our own and if not careful we can say thing we may regret.
My prayer for today is that we would remember to be sowers of good seeds, that the spirit of the Lord would be upon us and that we would become the repairer of the breach, a restorer of the path to dwell in.
As a pastor I must put all my trust in Jesus and believe that His word is true, I trust that He is big enough to have provided us with a reliable word through the bible and that through His grace and mercies we will discover all the hidden truths if our hearts are pure.
