Field trip yesterday to Cass Scenic Railroad State Park for Adam
Passenger Cars: This car(Fraunce's Tavern 1937) is currently the Park Superintendent's office. The second car (barely seen - Stuart House) was reportedly the first railroad car with on board movies (1947). Both cars came to Cass as static dining cars used as a restaurant. The Stuart House car was later restored for use along the Greenbrier River track to Durbin. It was used one season before the track was destoryed in a 1985 flood. Both cars are now marooned at Cass since they can't make the curves on Cass Hill. |
