New "Horse Tree"

Copenhagen is in this shot, getting a day off from Dakota, who is mystified by the loss of another buddy (remember Cliffie the pony? He died last summer of old age -28 years).

Boss taught Dakota some of his favorite tricks - picking up and object (preferably a bucket or something) and (TRUE!) waving it up and down at his fellows and galloping off with them. One of the funniest sights I ever saw was Boss TEACHING Dakota how to play tug-of-war with him over a low, flat rubber feed pan! I was laughing too hard to get a shot!

Anyway, Copenhagen ahs always been playful but Boss was the real "sparker" and yesterday, Copenhagen, who is somewhat depressed, was going bonkers with Dakota pestering, pestering, pestering. So today we separated them.

Tonight they are together but I will prolly separate them again tomorrow.

Meanwhile, in this photo Copenhagen is wearing "fly armor" as he is allergic to fly bites. He is wearing a fly mask that covers his eyes and ears and light leg wraps as the flies seem to love to chew his hair off. And he has fly spry on too.

Those of you who remember my old album (CelticCatholics) here and on Fotolog may remember many, many shots of our previous home with one smallish tree ("the Horse Tree") in it. This is just one of probably 9 or 10 trees that line the fence of the new pasture.

With Cope in the picture you can see how TALL this tree is - bigger than "the Big Tree" at our old place.

These trees (mostly cottonwoods - aka poplars) were planted by the original builder of this house and her husband in 1947-1949. Some of the trees have come down or been cut down but all are still alive and re-growing, except (for some reason) the four in the front, side and back yards.
