DuckBoy Episode #10 Reflections On the Cuckoo... DuckBoy has reached a Pond. He is tired but feels he has more perspective on many of the issues that perturbed him. He doesn't really know if this is the Pond of his Youth, his destination, but it is pleasant and the reflections please him. There are fish swimming lazily and fresh water nearby. The effects of the mushrooms he ate to sustain himself have worn off. DuckBoy stands transfixed at his image and how he has changed. He remembers the way his father had been shot from the sky by hunters before his time, how his mother had brought him up alone after his syblings had been eaten by a fisher cat,20 pounds of fierce mean weasel energy. She had passed on just months before from natural causes. He was on his own, figuring things out without the benefit of a road map. He realized there was an inward and an outward path and he alternated them,so far unsucessfully, but he knew he would keep trying. The sun baked his feathers in this chill area. He ruffled them for warmth and sated, he breathed deeply. |
